Hi guys, I bundled my Bali hotspots all together to create a helpful XL travel guide for Bali & Gili lovers like I do! While I am writing this post, I am secretly dreaming away when I see my pictures of my last Bali trip. The weather is so cold over here in Belgium, that I am writing this guide together with a cup of hot coffee and a blanket on my lap. So you can imagine how I felt when I selected all my pictures and tips for you guys. I want to go back ASAP! There’s this thing about Bali, the spirit of the island really gets you. The chill hangout spots, the most welcoming local people, the amazing food places, it makes it all a really special experience when you visit this country. It had me from day one! I honestly think that I got the Bali-fever after my trip.
Now enough about my winter blues, and more fun talk about the most magical island that I’ve been to. I started my trip in Canggu, in the stunning Villa Phoenix that I rented by Airbnb. A gorgeous open casa, with 3 rooms and a huge private pool in the center of the Villa. An amazing stay on an even more amazing location. Because Canggu was my first stop but also my most favorite stop. It also was the very first time that I rented a Villa with Airbnb and I can recommend this to everyone. In fact a girlfriend of mine is now packing her bags to leave for Bali and will stay in this amazing Villa as wel. Check out the casa over here! We stayed in Canggu for 3 days, but if you are a surfer or just a surf-lover I would recommend to stay there longer. Canggu has the most chill beach clubs, you can easily fill in a half week over there. Plus if you would love to learn surfing I would also recommend to do this in Canggu, since the waves are a bit smaller over there. They are still verrry huge, but smaller as in the other area’s like Uluwatu and etc. Check out my favorite hangout spots, breakie spots and restaurants underneath this post.
// Next up // was Gili Islands.. Gili Trawangan, the island where I left my heart and soul. Seriously, stop reading what people write about the Gili’s. I almost didn’t include Gili Trawangan in my trip because of the negative comments about this island. People call it a dirty, party island. But seriously, I haven’t seen anything like that. It is one of the most gorgeous islands I’ve ever been to. The clear water and beautiful corals, you really need to include this on your trip! Or you can visit Gili Meno or Gili Air, which are the more calm and quiet islands of the Gili’s. I had the opportunity to stay at Le Pirate, a hotel that I discovered a few months ago on instagram, and started catching myself liking every damn picture that they uploaded for months. I told my boyfriend it was a MUST that I stayed in that hotel on Gili Trawangan. But when you head over to my pictures you will totally understand. The hotel is not the most typical luxury hotel, in fact the rooms are little cabines on the beach. YASS on the beach! Not only for this breath-taking hotel we went to Trawangan, but also because it is very popular to snorkle and swim with the turtles. And yesss I did see them and had the rare chance to swim with 3 turtles next to me. Make sure to write down Mario’s phone number, it is a local cool guy that does snorkeling trips with his private boat. And it is much more fun to get on a boat with just the two of you than to hop on a boat with 50 tourists on it. Because they only go to the busier area’s and the turtles are by far gone over there. Mario knows the more quiet places that people mostly forget about and where the turtles can be found more easily.
// Next hangout spot// Uluwatu! The COOLEST place on earth, where all the fancy surfers hang out. The waves are unbelievably huge, and dangerous for amateurs. So you only spot the pro’s over there, which is really fun to see and enjoy. Tip, eat a little Nalu bowl or warm taco’s at Single Finn’s while enjoying the view. The view is really abnormal and so cool. Never seen such big waves in my life! Definitely worth a visit! And while you’re there, don’t forget to include Suluban beach, or head over to Finns beachclub to have a bbq on the beach while watching the magical sunsets in Bali.
// Last two hotspots: Ubud and Nusa Dua // After Uluwatu we went straight to Nusa Dua where we stayed in the luxurious Tanadewa Villa’s and Spa, a total ZEN experience after hoppin on a few boats from Bali to Gili. We picked the Nusa Dua area to end our vacay because it is not that far from Ubud and closer to the Denpasar airport. The Nusa Dua area is more quiet than other ones, so if you like the cool surf vibes than you should not include this area. But we wanted to relax the last days and have a little spa treatment. And of course I picked out the right hotel, because their Spa centre was picked out as one of the best from the whole Bali country. It was really a gorgeous hotel, where we had a whole Villa to ourself with the most amazing bathroom and pool ever seen. Another thing why we picked out this area was to get to Ubud, like I told you before. Ubud is one of the most popular postcard-area’s from Bali. Famous for their ultra green ricefields and gorgeous Spa and yoga facilities. We just went for a day, because we ran out of time (sadly). But it is really a breath-taking place. I am a nature – loving – person, so for me it was one of the must-see areas in Bali. Oh and we payed a visit to the monkey forest as well in Ubud. So cool! Really loving those tiny little monkeys, but little did I know that they were so aggressive. So pay attention, and don’t fool them when you give them food!
Sadly my trip came to an end after Ubud, but I am sure that I will be visiting Bali again in a few months. And another thing that I am sure about is that I will include Nusa Lembongan to my trip then. I sadly, cannot give you tips about this island since I’ve never visited it, but it happens to be the cool new hotspot of Bali andd Le Pirate just opened a new hotel over there as well. So I am dying to go!
But now, let’s talk hot-spots. I hope they’ll come really handy for your next Bali trip, and if you have more questions just give a shout! And don’t forget..
