John Galliano’s comeback is underway, with the former Dior designer, who was dismissed from the French fashion house for making anti-Semitic remarks, taking up residence at Oscar de la Renta.
The designer will spend the next three weeks working at Oscar de la Renta’s New York studio in the lead-up to fashion week.
Commenting on the move to WWD, Oscar de la Renta said: “John and I have known each other for many years and I am a great admirer of his talent. He has worked long and hard on his recovery and I am happy to give him the opportunity to reimmerse himself in the world of fashion and reacclimate in an environment where he has been so creative.”
During his 15-year tenure at Dior, Galliano was known for his extravagant, whimsical designs. This penchant for drama could serve him well at Oscar de la Renta, who is a popular choice for actresses wanting to impress on the red carpet.
